SEOAsist Assistant: ask about your sites, let it do the work

How to use the SEOAsist Assistant on every panel page: ready commands, site and model pickers, what it can do for each role, and its limits.

Open this screen in the panel

The SEOAsist Assistant is an AI assistant that reads your sites' data and can do work for you. Ask it "what changed this week?" or tell it "fix the missing meta descriptions". It uses SEOAsist's own tools and shows each tool it runs, step by step.

Prerequisites

  • The assistant is available on Starter and above. On the Free plan the window shows an upgrade card.
  • It runs on the organization's connected AI models. To add one, see AI models.

Opening the assistant

  • Every panel page has a round button at the bottom right. Click it.
  • Press Ctrl+J (⌘+J on a Mac) to open or close it.
  • For the full-page view, open Assistant.
  • In the desktop app, open SEOAsist Assistant in the sidebar.

Using it

  1. Pick a site in the site picker at the top, or let it work on all sites.
  2. Pick a model in the model picker. The organization's default model is selected.
  3. Type your question or pick a ready command.
  4. While it works, the live step list shows which tools it is using.

Ready commands

CommandWhat it does
SEO roundReviews health, fixes, rankings, plan tasks, content and backlinks, then writes a report.
Articles from content gapPicks the best content-gap topics, writes on-brand articles and sends them to review.
Backlink outreachFinds link opportunities from competitors and adds prospects with draft emails to the outreach list.
Plan tasksDoes the manual tasks waiting in workspace plans and closes them with a note.
Weekly reportSummarizes the week; changes nothing.

What it can do for your role

The assistant works with your role:

  • Viewer: it only reads and answers.
  • Editor, Admin, Owner: it can also act. For example, it starts crawls, opens fix PRs, adds Pixel rules, sends articles to review and adds outreach prospects.
note

The assistant never publishes rewrites of existing pages live. Blog articles go to review first; you decide when they go out.

Limits

  • At most 25 tool turns run per request.
  • One request per user runs at a time.
  • Web chat history is kept only in this browser. It doesn't show up in another browser or on another device.

On the desktop, with your own Claude subscription

In the desktop app you can set the assistant's engine to Claude. The assistant then runs on your own Claude subscription through the Claude Code CLI found on your computer. It looks in PATH, the Claude Code extension in VS Code or Cursor, and the copy bundled with Claude Desktop.

  • This engine only gets SEOAsist's MCP tools. It has no shell and no file access.
  • On first use it creates a device key named Claude Code (asistan). You'll see it under Settings → API keys.
  • It needs a plan with API access (Pro or Agency). An owner or admin has to create the key the first time.

FAQ

Which model does the assistant use?

One of the organization's connected AI models. The organization sets the default; you can change it per request in the model picker.

Can I run the assistant on a schedule?

Yes. On Pro and Agency you can run ready commands on set days and hours. See Scheduled runs.

Why did my chat history disappear?

Web history is kept only in that browser. If you cleared browser data or signed in from another browser, older chats don't appear.

Can I use it from inside Claude or ChatGPT?

Yes. You can connect SEOAsist to your own AI app, and the same ready commands show up there. See Connect your AI.
