Brand check: do AI assistants describe your brand correctly?
Ask assistants about your brand and compare their answers with how your site describes itself: accuracy score, correct/wrong/missing lists, the full answer, sources and a fix prompt.
Open this screen in the panelThe brand check asks AI assistants "What do you know about {site name} ({domain})?": what it does, where it is, which services or products it offers and how to contact it. It then compares every answer with your site's own description and lists anything wrong or missing. Unlike the visibility measurement, the question names your brand.
Before you start
- At least one engine that can run must be enabled. Engines are picked in the Engines to query row on the GEO visibility tab.
- The comparison needs your home page crawled: SEOAsist uses the home page title, description and, if present, your llms.txt as the site's own facts.
- The accuracy score and lists are produced by an AI model; if no AI is available, only the assistant's answer is stored.
Run a brand check
- On the GEO · AI Visibility page, pick the site and open the Brand check tab.
- Click Check now in the top right. The question goes to every enabled engine; the job runs in the background.
- After the "Brand check queued" message, refresh the page a few minutes later.
The brand check is not scheduled; you run it whenever you want. The latest result is shown for each engine.
Read the result
Each engine gets a card. Its top line shows the engine and model, an Accuracy n/100 score, a site cited or site not cited tag and the date. Below are a one-sentence summary and three lists:
| List | Contents |
|---|---|
| Correct | Clear claims that match the site's facts. |
| Wrong / conflicting | Claims that contradict the site (another domain, wrong address/product/price, confusion with another company). Each has a short fix suggestion after an arrow. |
| Missing | Facts the site states that the answer leaves out. |
- Assistant's full answer: expands the complete reply.
- Sources (n links · n domains): the links the assistant cited, grouped by domain. Your domain is tagged your site, the rest other site. If another domain (for example your old one) appears often, it is most likely where the wrong facts come from.
The How the site describes itself card on the right shows the facts used for the comparison: Site name, URL, Home page title and Home page description. If the assistants' version differs, update these and your llms.txt first.
If a card says "This check ran before the comparison feature", it was run on an older version. Run Check now again to get the score and lists.
Build a fix prompt
- Once at least one answer is in, click AI prompt to fix at the top of the tab.
- The prompt contains the assistants' answers, other domains they cited, and four fix tasks:
- update llms.txt,
- add or fix Organization / LocalBusiness schema,
- clarify the About page,
- 301-redirect old or secondary domains to the main site.
- Copy it and give it to an assistant or your developer. You can review their reply in the Paste the AI answer step of the same dialog; see AI prompt and answer review.
Check that it worked
After making the fixes, re-crawl the site and run Check now again. The Wrong / conflicting list should shrink and the accuracy score should rise. Assistants can take a while to pick up new information.
FAQ
How is the accuracy score calculated?
An AI model compares the assistant's answer with your site's own facts and scores from 0 to 100 how accurate and complete the description is. Only claims that can be checked against the site's facts are judged.
Why is Check now disabled or failing?
No engine can run. Your SEOAsist AI quota may be used up, or you need to add a search-capable key. See AI models.
An engine card only shows an error. What now?
That engine failed while answering. The message usually comes from the provider (quota, key, model). Check your key and run the check again.
