Create a workspace: goal, pace, channels and approval
Set a goal for a site and build an automatic 30/60/90-day SEO plan, create drafts for every goal at once, then review and start them.
Open this screen in the panelA workspace is an automatic SEO loop for one site and one goal. A plan is built from the SEO analysis, tasks are spread across the weeks, they run according to the approval mode you pick, and a report is written every Monday. A new workspace opens as a Draft and does nothing until you start it.
Before you start
- You need at least one site in the panel: Sites.
- Your role must allow editing.
- The plan is built from the site's latest SEO analysis. If there is none, one runs automatically while the workspace is created (1–2 min).
Create a single-goal workspace
- On the Workspaces page, click New workspace and pick the site.
- The Plan source card shows the latest analysis score and how many plan tasks it contains. Optionally fill in Name (optional); leave it empty and a name is generated.
- Under Goal, pick one and enter its target value:
- Organic traffic: percentage increase in Search Console clicks.
- Keyword rankings: number of tracked keywords to bring into the top 10.
- AI visibility: share of AI answers you appear in (%).
- Local SEO: Google Business Profile review target.
- Technical cleanup: target health score (/100).
- Pick a Horizon: 30 days, 60 days or 90 days.
- Pick a Pace: Careful (
2 tasks a week), Balanced (4) or Fast (~8). Tasks are spread over the weeks at that rate, with quick wins first. - Under Channels, tick how the system may apply fixes: PR (GitHub), Pixel, WordPress, Shopify, Content production. If the site has no GitHub repository linked, PR (GitHub) is greyed out.
- Pick an Approval mode (see the table below).
- Under Budget, set the Weekly AI budget (USD) and Pieces of content per week.
- Click Create plan. The plan screen opens.
| Approval mode | What happens |
|---|---|
| Ask for everything | No task runs without your approval. |
| Ask only for code and publishing | PRs, publishing, rules and posts need approval; measurements and syncs run automatically. This is the default. |
| Fully automatic | Everything runs on its own. PRs still never touch the main branch. |
When the weekly AI budget runs out, tasks that use AI move to Waiting for budget and are queued again when the new week starts. Code is never written straight to the main branch, and Pixel changes are reversible.
Edit the plan and start it
- On the Plan tab, drag tasks between weeks in the Calendar view, edit them with the pencil icon, delete them with the trash icon, or click Add task.
- When you are happy, click Approve plan and start in the top right.
- Draft dates are re-aligned to the day you start. The scheduler runs due tasks every hour.
For task statuses and the approval inbox, see Tasks, approvals and verification.
Create drafts for all goals
Not sure which goal to start with? Let SEOAsist open one draft per goal.
- In the wizard, set the horizon, pace, channels, approval mode and budget. These settings apply to every draft; each goal gets its default target value.
- Click Create drafts for all goals at the bottom.
- Each analysis task is assigned to exactly one goal, so the same fix never runs in two workspaces. Goals with no tasks get no draft.
- You land on the Workspaces page with a Drafts waiting for approval card at the top.
Review and start the waiting drafts
- Each row in Drafts waiting for approval shows the goal, the domain and the task count.
- Click Review to open the draft's plan; edit tasks and delete the ones you don't want.
- Start a draft that is ready with Start on its row. With more than one draft, Start all starts them together after a confirmation.
A draft that is never started does nothing. To get rid of one, open it and delete it from the Settings tab.
Check that it worked
- The workspace card shows Active and a "started …" date.
- On the detail page, the Progress to goal and Metrics (vs baseline) cards fill in. Baseline metrics are captured at activation.
- The Log tab shows a "Workspace started" entry.
FAQ
Can I change the goal or pace after starting?
Yes. Use the workspace's Settings tab to change the goal, pace, channels, approval mode and budget. Changing the horizon or pace re-spreads the planned tasks over the weeks.
Can I stop a workspace for a while?
Click Pause on an active workspace and Resume to continue. When the work is finished, use Close as completed.
What happens if I delete a workspace?
Its tasks, log and reports are deleted. PRs that were opened and content that was published stay where they are.
Can I pick the traffic goal without Search Console?
You can, but click tracking relies on Search Console data. Without it, the wizard opens with Technical cleanup selected by default. See the Search Console guide to connect it.
