Setup wizard: get SEOAsist ready in 5 steps
The five steps of the first-run setup wizard: site, Google, apply channel, notifications and goals. What to choose in each step and where to change it later.
Open this screen in the panelThe first time you sign in with a new organization, the panel takes you to the SEOAsist setup screen. The wizard has five steps, and you can change every one of them later. Click the step tiles at the top to move between steps; the other steps unlock once a site has been added.
Before you start
- You need the Owner, Admin or Member role in the organization. Viewers don't see the wizard.
- For the Google step, a Google account with Search Console or GA4 access helps, but it is not required.
1. Site
- In Site URL, enter the full address of the site (for example
https://example.com). - In Site name, enter the name you want to see in the panel.
- In Language and market, pick the language and country the site targets. It is used for keyword rankings, competitors and content suggestions.
- Press Add site and start crawling. The crawl is queued right away; technical issues and the SEO analysis are ready in a few minutes.
2. Google
- Press Connect with Google and choose your account on Google's consent screen.
- Press Find the Search Console property. If a property matches the domain, the site is linked to it.
- Pick the site's property in the GA4 property list and press Save. If there is none, the Create one if missing link opens the site page.
- Move on with Continue, or choose Skip for now.
Without Google, analysis and workspaces run on partial data. Details: Connecting Search Console, Google Analytics 4.
3. Apply channel
Here you choose how the system applies fixes and content to your site: Site API (custom code), WordPress, Shopify, GitHub (pull requests) or Pixel (no code).
- Pick the channel that fits your site; short setup steps appear under the card.
- Use Open the setup page to go to the matching tab on the site page and finish the setup there.
- Come back to the wizard and press Continue.
The choice here is only a suggestion. Setup happens in the site's channels tab, and several channels can be used together. The system also works without one; then you apply fixes yourself with the AI prompt.
4. Notifications
- In Notification emails (comma separated), enter the addresses that should receive alerts. Your own e-mail is filled in by default.
- To get the weekly report too, leave Also send the weekly SEO report to these addresses ticked.
- Press Continue.
You can add Telegram, webhook and WhatsApp later under Settings → Notifications: Team and notifications.
5. Goals
- Tick the goals to work on: Organic traffic, Keyword rankings, AI visibility, Local SEO, Technical cleanup. The first three are selected by default.
- In Duration, pick 30, 60 or 90 days.
- Press Finish setup.
As soon as the first crawl and SEO analysis finish, a draft workspace is created for each selected goal and you get a notification. Drafts do nothing until you approve them. If the analysis is already done, you go straight to the Workspaces page with the drafts listed.
Check that it worked
- If you picked goals and the analysis is still running, a “Setup complete” box appears at the top of Overview.
- A status label in the top bar shows the site being crawled; you are notified when it finishes.
- A few minutes later the bell should show a “… draft workspaces ready for …” notification.
FAQ
What happens if I leave the wizard halfway?
Finish later at the top right closes the wizard, and the panel stops redirecting you to it. You can finish the remaining steps any time by going back to the setup wizard or from the relevant pages.
What if I don't pick any goals?
Setup still finishes; no draft workspaces are created. You can start one later with Create workspace on the site's analysis page.
I picked the wrong language and market. Where do I change it?
Open the site from Sites and change the location, language and device in the SERP tracking section of the General settings card.
I ticked the weekly report box but no report arrived. Why?
The wizard box switches weekly sending on; the first report goes out on the next Monday. If it doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first, then make sure weekly sending is still switched on in the Weekly report card on the Reports page: Generate and send the weekly report every Monday at 09:30 must be ticked. Details: Reports.
